Research shows that youth engaged in quality arts programs, both in school and after school, get better grades and are happier with their lives. Arts & crafts allow members to express their creativity. The brain’s creative side enjoys the arts; it allows a more comprehensive experience combining complex ideas and images. The analytical side enjoys the education. When the creative and analytical sides of the brain work together, quality experiences occur and healthy development of children is enhanced. The programs include painting, drawing, construction, beading, and collage. Some Clubs expand the art and crafts programs and participate in the National Fine Arts Contest through the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
During 2002-2003, Clubs across the country received ClubTech’s Digital Arts Suite, a collection of five programs designed to incorporate the best learning approaches into a high-tech setting for kids. With Web Tech, Design Tech, Photo Tech, Movie Tech, and Music Tech programs on CD-ROM, our Clubs can teach members about Web design, graphic design and animation, digital photography and photo editing, digital movies, and digital music production. The Digital Arts Suite is just one of many ways Microsoft is allowing young Club members to realize their potential through ClubTech.
