Events

Each year, staff, volunteers, and supporters come together to raise money in support of the kids we serve. Some events we host are countywide and raise funds to support the entire organization, while others are organized at the Club level and raise funds for an individual Club. Whether countywide or Club-specific, these events have a single focus—the kids.

KidsBreakfast 2011

The powerful event featured a few of our extraordinary Club kids: Jordan McCabe, a 12 year-old basketball phenomenon from our Rotary Club started things off; Muhamed Manhsour spoke about his amazing experience being part of the YouthForce program and how it has changed his life; Jordon Bolden, from the Smilow Clubhouse at Rainier Vista, sang an ovation-inspiring rendition of John Legend's - If You're Out There; Youth of the Year Olivia Vellotti, from the Ballard Club, spoke eloquently of the Club's role in her life.

The audience sat spellbound as they listened to Keynote Marion Jones speak of her Olympic triumph, her meteoric fall from grace and her struggle to find forgiveness and meaning in her mistakes.

Your generosity and kindness garnered $440,000 that will go directly to impacting the lives of 16,000 Club kids. Your support has an impact on our kids everyday, and is how we ensure Great Futures Start Here.

Ballard Club Parents Share their Heartwarming Story
You could have heard a pin drop as Sean and Laurel spoke to the crowd, telling them of their youngest daughter's fight with Leukemia. Louisa is 12 and has been a part of the Club's family for more than 7 years. When she spent 140 days isolated in the hospital this year, Club kids and staff created music videos, one every week - 23 total, to keep her spirits up. Today, she is in remission and is eager to return to the Club in May of 2011, when her immune system is strong enough.

The initiative, sponsored by Moss Adams and Moss Adams Wealth Advisors, marks the 20th anniversary of the change from Boys Clubs of America to Boys & Girls Clubs of America. 156 women in the room stood with their bid cards held high, supporting the initiative at the $100 level.
